Class Descriptions

All levels Yoga: this class is accessible for all students.  Poses start at a basic level and students are given the options to increase the difficulty as they wish.  Alignment, breathing and some yoga philosophy is discussed depending on the atmosphere of the class.

Silver Sneaker Yoga Stretch: this style of class is focused on students who cannot comfortably get up and down from the ground.  The postures are done by both standing and also from seated positions on a chair.  This class is only offered at the YMCA.  We focus a lot on breathing and relaxation during this class.  Sneakers are required.

Beginners yoga: this style of class is geared towards students who have never attempted yoga or are not comfortable in the poses yet.  We go over alignment and modifications to help find the truest expression of the postures for the individual student.  This class usually has poses being held for longer periods of time and instructor modifications for individuals.

Workshop Style class:  this class has a theme, it could be body systems, body parts, movements, postures, sequences, etc.  Postures are held for awhile and also are modified to make all poses available to everyone.  Questions are answered during class and brief yoga theory is discussed.

Power Vinyasa Flow yoga: this is a fast paced, fun, cardiovascular style of class.  Students move quickly from pose to pose using the breath.  Having prior experience with yoga is suggested as well as knowledge of Sun Salutations.  Bring a towel, you will sweat.

All classes are ended with 5-15 minutes savasana (corpse pose) and a brief meditation.
